Position: Senior Buyer
Location: Hong Kong
Description: Our client, a progressive Hong Kong based footwear and accessories retailer requires a Senior Buyer possessing both strong leadership capacity and extensive experience with a background in Footwear/Fashion/Accessories Merchandising/Buying. Fashion Apparel will be considered.

The ideal person will be responsible for the buying of the merchandise mix which ties in with the company’s strategic direction, working together with the rest of the buying team to ensure the company sales and profit objectives are met. This position involves the management of two direct reports.

In addition to following company policies and procedures, key accountabilities include, but are not limited to: sales and profit, merchandise management, relationship management and team leadership.

Sales and Profit: You will be required to achieve seasonal sales and profit targets based on the seasonal business plan. Furthermore, you will need to negotiate with suppliers in a tough but fair manner to secure exclusive ranges / brands and optimisation of the profit margin. Also, to monitor closely on a detailed OTB system controlling sales and stock levels in order to maintain seasonal target.

Merchandise Management: You will need to be innovative and able to forecast upcoming trends by attending worldwide exhibitions. Furthermore, familiarity with both local and overseas market situations and trends will be required. Sourcing newness and maintenance of a leading position in the market of products in its own category will form part of your responsibility.

Relationship Management: Working closely with visual Merchandise, Marketing and Communications to deliver the correct image to the end customer through the correct channels. Furthermore, to working closely with warehouse to maintain a timely delivery to stores. Demonstration and desire to understand and communicate the latest trends and fashion to customers and staff is important.

Team Leadership: Demonstration and reinforcement of the company vision and values at all times and provision of the necessary leadership to gain commitment from buying team. Furthermore you will need to identify and execute ways to increase employee loyalty, satisfaction and pride with the company experience. Reinforcement of the company message to the team and reinforcement of the need to drive profitability at the company through the merchandise mix and full price sell through form paramount areas of expectation.
